The government aircraft is a special transport aircraft used for transporting dignitaries such as the Prime Minister. The government owns two government aircraft. The currently operated second-generation model is the “Boeing 777-300ER,” which has been in operation since April 2019 of Heisei 31 (2019).
The former government aircraft (Boeing 747-400) was first used for diplomatic relations in April of Heisei 5 (1993) when Prime Minister Miyazawa visited the United States. In September of that year, it was used for the visit to Europe by Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress.
The special specification of the interior includes a space for the Prime Minister, an office space, a conference room, and also seats for accompanying journalists.
